The Lavendar Farm

Fishing: “Valhalla for the fisherman”….this is how one of our guests described Wellow and Hampshire in general. A fisherman’s paradise indeed with Headlands Farm Fishery  only a few doors away.  Woodington Lakes is another popular fishery within a few hundred metres of us. Dandy’s Ford close by and there are plenty more in neighbouring villages. The Broadlands Estate offers splendid fishing on a beautiful stretch of the river Test . Most rivers in Wellow are linked with the River Blackwater, which is  a tributary of the River Test.

Gardens:  Exbury gardens, Mottisfont Abbey  and Hilliers Gardens are fabulous. Less well known and smaller but delightful is King Johns House and Garden in the heart of Romsey. The garden is free to wander and divided into separate garden “rooms” which are tended entirely by volunteers. The tea rooms has tables in the garden as well as indoors.

Cycling: If you want to do your own thing we recommend the New Forest. It is a stunning place to cycle, with opportunity for off-road or  following established paths. Varied terrain but not too many hills.

Golf: Wellow Golf Club, Bramshaw Golf club and Hamptworth Golf Club are all beautiful and well-regarded courses within easy reach.

Walking: The New Forest is on our doorstep, a vast, beautiful  area of woods and open heathlands with many trails and routes for walkers.

There are some pleasant shorter routes around the Parish of Wellow which are ideal for those seeking a stroll rather than a days hike.

Gym: Wellow Golf Glub has gym facilities, also Romsey Rapids.

Horse-riding: Riding is very popular in Hampshire, there are stables in Wellow and many more to be found in the New Forest.

Country Fairs and shows take place here all through the year…The Romsey show, the New Forest Show, Southampton Boat Show, Beaulieu Auto Jumble, The Beggars Fair, the Salisbury Arts Festival, many Village Fetes and so much more…

Also..

Cinema: Southampton or Salisbury

Theatre: The Mayflower in Southampton hosts opera, ballet, musicals, and shows of all types. The Nuffield is a popular venue for drama.
